EnergyLite Companies develops, promotes and distributes Solid-State Lighting (SSL) products which provide a highly energy efficient and environmentally sustainable alternative to conventional lighting sources.
We all depend on electric light: to live and work; for comfort and safety. This dependency accounts for as much as 20 percent of all electricity consumption.
Yet, an enormous proportion of that consumption is wasted.
The incandescent light bulb has changed very little since it was first invented more than 100 years ago. It hasn’t grown much more efficient over the years, yet it’s used today in some 4.4 billion of North America’s 7 billion fixtures.
Conventional lighting technologies are highly inefficient. For example, only five to seven percent of the energy used by a typical incandescent lamp actually produces light. Fluorescent lamps are better, but still produce as much as four times more heat than light and contain highly toxic materials such as Mercury.
Spotlight on Solid-State Lighting
Solid-state solutions produce light using semiconductors instead of gases or filaments. These semiconductors are basically the same materials used to make the chipsets for today’s electronic devices—everything from computers to cell phones. These light sources out perform incandescent and fluorescent sources in every way.
Solid-State Lighting is 85% efficient and as such, does not convert electricity to heat but, to light. Solid-State Lighting sources have significantly longer life spans than their conventional counterparts. This means that changing light bulbs will virtually become a thing of the past, while at the same time, greatly reducing waste and cost.
Some $12 billion is spent globally every year on lamps for general illumination. Yet, conventional lighting technologies are grossly wasteful. More than 90 percent of the energy used by incandescent lamps ends up producing waste heat. Compact fluorescent lamps still waste some 75% of the electricity they use as heat. All that waste devours resources and contributes to the production of carbon emissions.
Solid-State Lighting represents an opportunity
to cut back significantly on energy consumption and it's associated costs -- without having to reduce societies
reliance on that most basic electrical commodity: light.
The conservation of resources is a vital concern
now and for the future.
At EnergyLite... THE FUTURE IS NOW.
